Dignitaries from across Herts have offered their condolences following the death of HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
Robert Voss, Her Majesty s Lord-Lieutenant of Hertfordshire, said: It with great sadness that we learn of the death of HRH The Duke of Edinburgh. His Royal Highness devoted his life to serving Her Majesty and this country and his sense of duty was unfailing. He is often remembered for his wit and sense of humour and fun but he never wavered in his support of The Queen and the many charities and other organisations which he supported including of course The Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards.
Boris Johnson leads tributes as Prince Philip dies, aged 99. (PA) Boris Johnson has paid tribute to Prince Philip following his death at the age of 99. Speaking from Downing Street, the Prime Minister said: “He helped to steer the Royal Family and the monarchy so that it remains an institution indisputably vital to the balance and happiness of our national life.” Boris Johnson’s fiancee Carrie Symonds tweeted: “So very sad to hear of the passing of HRH, the Duke of Edinburgh. An incredible life devoted to the Queen, his family and our country. Thoughts and prayers with Her Majesty and the Royal Family.”

Over the course of his 99-year life, he saw our world change dramatically and repeatedly. From his service during World War II, to his 73 years alongside the Queen, and his entire life in the public eye Prince Philip gladly dedicated himself to the people of the UK, the Commonwealth, and to his family. The impact of his decades of devoted public service is evident in the worthy causes he lifted up as patron, in the environmental efforts he championed, in the members of the Armed Forces that he supported, in the young people he inspired, and so much more. His legacy will live on not only through his family, but in all the charitable endeavors he shaped.
