President Joe Biden on Friday extended his condolences to the British royal family and the people of the United Kingdom over the death of Prince Philip. On behalf of all the people of the United States, we send our deepest condolences to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the entire Royal Family, and all the people of the United Kingdom on the death of His Royal Highness Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, a statement from the president said.

The Duke of Edinburgh has died aged 99, Buckingham Palace has confirmed.
Prince Philip was the longest-serving consort in British history.
A statement from Buckingham Palace said: “It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.

The royal family announced the Duke of Edinburgh s death on Friday in a statement. It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle, the statement reads. Queen Elizabeth II announced the passing of her husband, Prince Philip, on Friday, April 9. He was 99.
Barack Obama, visiting Britain for the first time as US president, shared a nervousness of the “palaces and pomp” with wife Michelle.
“We shouldn’t have worried,” the Democrat wrote following the Duke of Edinburgh’s death at the age of 99 on Friday.
“The Queen and Prince Philip immediately put us at ease with their grace and generosity, turning a ceremonial occasion into something far more natural, even comfortable.
“Prince Philip in particular was kind and warm, with a sharp wit and unfailing good humour. It was our first introduction to the man behind the title, and in the years since, our admiration for him has only grown.”
The prince was the longest-serving consort in British history, with his service including two visits to Warrington. He first came to the town in 1979, when he toured the new Golden Square development and visited the Town Hall alongside the Queen on November 7. And the pair returned together in 2012, when they opened the Orford Jubilee Neighbourhood Hub. During his second visit, the Duke of Edinburgh helped to bury a time capsule at the state-of-the-art leisure, health and library facility. Prince Phillip married the then Princess Elizabeth in 1947, five years before she became the Queen. The couple went on to have four children, eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
