Oman’s humanitarian efforts take centre-stage during COVID-19 pandemic By: Times News Service OHRC has praised the government, civil and military stakeholders for their efforts in handling the coronavirus crisis. Muscat: Setting up a fund to support Oman’s health services, providing free COVID treatment to Omanis and expatriates in the country, organising a hotline for people to report cases of infection, and bringing home Omani nationals stranded overseas are some of the efforts of the government that have been praised by the Oman Human Rights Commission (OHRC) in its handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. The commission also personally intervened in 70 instances of people who required emergency assistance in 2020, owing to the pandemic. These were related to providing help in the form of housing, family support, resolving labour disputes, child welfare, urgent healthcare, and many others.

Article (1) states that the provisions of the “Unified System of Extending Insurance Protection to GCC Military Personnel Operating in GCC Member States Other Than Their Own”, shall be applied in accordance with the version attached to this decree, bearing in mind the following: 1. The provisions of the Law of Post-Service Pensions and Gratuities for Personnel of the Defence Ministry and the Sultan’s Armed Forces”, issued under Royal Decree 3/2002, shall apply to Defence Ministry and Sultan’s Armed Forces’ Omani military personnel operating in GCC military units governed by GCC military retirement systems, from among those who do not get pension from the Sulta

Minister of Health thanks Indian government for COVID vaccine By: Times News Service The vaccines were handed over to Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Saidi by Munu Mahawar, the ambassador of India to Oman. Muscat: Oman’s Minister of Health has thanked the government of India for delivering 100,000 vaccines at no charge, to help with the country’s coronavirus vaccination drive. The doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine were produced by the Serum Institute of India, having undergone clinical trials to ensure they were safe to use on humans. The vaccines were handed over to Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Saidi by Munu Mahawar, the ambassador of India to Oman.
