Article content Parents of students in schools across both the Huron-Perth Catholic District and the Avon Maitland District school boards will have to decide before the current school year wraps up whether their kids will learn remotely or in person this September. Though local board officials are waiting for word from the province on the amount of funding they will receive for the 2021-2022 school year through Ontario’s Grants for Student Needs program, they are not anticipating as much funding dedicated to remote-learning programs as they received for the 2020-2021 year. AMDSB students to be offered remote-learning option for the 2021-22 school year SHARE ON: Local students will have the option of continuing remote-learning for the next school year. In a letter to families, Avon Maitland District School Board Director of Education Dr. Lisa Walsh says they are hopeful the spread of COVID-19 in Ontario will be greatly reduced, or better yet, eliminated by September. She says the AMDSB firmly believes that student’s educational needs, their learning, socialization and well-being, with their teachers and their peers in school. However, she says they recognize not all families will be comfortable returning to face to face learning in the new school year because of personal circumstances and she says remote learning will continue to be offered as an option.
