Local maple syrup producers are hoping the upcoming season will be even better than last year’s.
The Ontario Maple Syrup Producers’ Association (OMSPA), launched the 2021 season on Friday morning at the On the Bend sugar shack, located right outside of Chesterville on County Road 11. This was done with a ceremonial first tapping of the trees.

Last year, the province produced nearly four million litres of maple syrup, which amounted to about $66 million to $70 million in sales. That production value is nearly double as much as was made in 2011 2.2 million litres.
