As conflict in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territory continues to escalate, Christian Aid’s head of Middle East William Bell said:
“As soon as we report the numbers killed in Gaza they go out of date as the violence escalates. But we are duty bound to record these deaths: at least 65 so far in Gaza, including 16 children, according to the health ministry; in Israel it is 7, including one child. Even without a threatened ground invasion these figures will go up; with one, they will take us into the depths of hell.

‘’The indiscriminate launching of rockets from Hamas and other groups towards Israeli civilians is unacceptable,’’ said EU foreign affairs chief Josep Borrell on Wednesday.
He added, ‘’while recognising Israel’s legitimate need to protect its civilian population, this response needs to be proportionate and with maximum restraint in the use of force.’’
On Monday, following a meeting of EU Foreign Affairs, Borrell didn’t mention the barrage of rockets launched from Gaza into Israel as he limited his comments to the violence in Jerusalem and to the Sheikh Jarrah issue.

UNITED NATIONS: Tunisia, Norway and China have requested another emergency UN Security Council meeting be scheduled Friday on the worsening hostilities between Israel and Palestinians, despite ongoing US resistance for the body to take a role in the conflict.
The session would be public and would include participation by Israel and the Palestinians, diplomats said on Wednesday.
The Council has already held two closed-door videoconferences since Monday, with the United States opposing adoption of a joint declaration, which it said would not help de-escalate the situation.
