Townhouse Development On Ooltewah Georgetown Road Runs Into Some Opposition Wednesday, May 12, 2021 - by Joseph Dycus
The Hamilton County Commission on Wednesday debated the pros and cons of granting a special exceptions permit for a residential planned unit development at 6725 Ooltewah Georgetown Road. The original proposal would have put around 120 townhouse-style homes in the new subdivision, and a revised version cut that number down to around 50.
John Bridger, Regional Planning Agency executive director, noted that several residents and commissioners raised concerns about traffic and infrastructure. One of those was Commissioner Tim Boyd, who listed several aspects the developer (Turner Homes) needed to add to the road to make the area safe for development.
Bid Approved For $30 Million CSLA At Lakeside Project Wednesday, May 5, 2021 - by Joseph Dycus The Hamilton County Commissioners on Wednesday approved TriCon Inc.’s bid for the Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts (CSLA) at Lakeside project, which will cost around $30 million. Commissioner Tim Boyd noted he has long been a proponent of finding CSLA a new home, and thanked the commissioners for approving the bid.
“This $30 million is going to repurpose Lakeside Elementary to a K-12 magnet school,” Commissioner Boyd said. “I’ve worked for over 10 years to get CSLA a new facility, since it’s one of the worst buildings in the county that we’re teaching kids out of.”

SAGINAW, MI - A seat on the Saginaw County Board of Commissioners that has been traditionally held by Republicans is now occupied by a Democrat for the first time in at least two decades.
The Saginaw County Board of Commissioners appointed Democrat Cynthia Winiecke to fill the District 1 seat during a virtual meeting on Thursday, April 22. The seat was previously held by Republican Kathy Dwan who recently submitted her resignation after moving out of her district.
