Ex-Marine sentenced for drugging, trafficking hundreds of women — including military dependents

(Tribune News Service) A former Camp Lejeune Marine has been sentenced to prison on human trafficking charges that spanned over two decades where he drugged hundreds of women and prostituted them. On Friday, May 7, 38-year-old Jesse Gabriel Marks was sentenced to 30 years in prison after he pled guilty in September, 2020,to charges of sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion, according to the U.S. Attorney s Office for the Eastern District of North Carolina. As part of his plea deal, the drug charges involving methamphetamine and heroin distribution were dropped but Marks must pay $249,700 in restitution to several victims.

A Marine veteran who drugged and prostituted hundreds of women over the past two decades has been sentenced to 30 years in prison, according to the U.S. Justice Department. Jesse Gabriel Marks, 38, trafficked as many as 600 women after getting them hooked on narcotics near Camp Lejeune in North Carolina, authorities said. Marks preyed on women and at least one minor. “He used drugs, including heroin and methamphetamine, to keep them dependent on and prostituting for him,” said the U.S. Attorney s Office in a statement.

Deadly armed robbery turns to hunt for second suspect in Onslow

Onslow County deputies are searching for a second suspect accused of an attempted armed robbery and attempted home invasion in an incident that left the other suspect dead at the scene early Sunday morning. At approximately 3:40 a.m. Onslow County Sheriff deputies were called to 12 Baily Drive. Lot 3 after a 9-1-1 call came in that said someone had been shot.  When first responders arrived at the home, they found 28-year-old Xavier Jameel Newkirk behind his vehicle that was parked beside the home. Deputies say Newkirk is the owner of the home and had been shot twice, needing immediate medical attention.
