Maldives reported over 1,500 new Covid-19 cases of Tuesday, with over 1,200 infections detected from the nation s congested capital, Male City.
Latest statistics publicized by the Health Protection Agency (HPA) reveal that a total of 1,501 new Covid-19 infections were detected nationwide between 6pm Monday and 6pm Tuesday. This is the greatest number of daily new Covid-19 cases detected in the Maldives since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.
1,229 of the 1,501 new cases reported Tuesday were from the Male area, with 265 new cases reported from inhabited islands, and seven cases from operational resorts.

With a majority of cases once again detected from the capital Male City, Maldives reported 1,204 new Covid-19 infections on Monday.

961 of the 1,204 new cases reported Monday were from the Male area, with 235 new cases reported from inhabited islands, and eight cases from operational resorts.
Health authorities tested a total of 5,598 samples for the infection between Sunday and Monday.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) on Monday announced that 1,204 tested positive for COVID-19, while 248 people recovered.
The high This was the highest number of positive cases in the country within a 24 hour period, breaking the record of 1,091 cases, set only the previous day.
Similar to Sunday, HPA said while a majority of the COVID positives were from samples they took on Monday, 475 samples were taken on previous days. Out of the 5,598 samples tested within the period, 729 positives came from samples taken on Monday itself.

MALE, May 11 (Xinhua) The Maldives has recorded 1,204 new cases of COVID-19, raising the total number of cases to 37,019, local media citing the Health Protection Agency (HPA) reported here Tuesday.
Among the new cases, 961 were detected in the capital region of Greater Male and 235 in inhabited islands.
The total number of active cases stood at 10,376, and 244 remained hospitalized.
Meanwhile, local media the Times of Addu citing the HPA reported that 65 percent of intensive care units at the Dharumavantha Hospital are currently occupied by patients below the age of 40.
