What a year: Northern Michigan nears milestone of first reported COVID-19 cases

As Northern Michigan nears one year since its first case of COVID-19, questions still remain about the origin of the novel illness.
In the same breath, however, several questions have been answered and with the continued vaccine rollout efforts, there may be a light at the end of the tunnel.
The first positive case of COVID-19 in the Health Department of Northwest Michigan’s four-county jurisdiction (Antrim, Charlevoix, Emmet and Otsego counties) was reported on March 13 in Charlevoix County in an adult female.
Three days later on March 16, the first case of the virus was reported in Emmet County before the first COVID-19 associated death was reported March 31.
