(KAIT) - Those who planned to get the single-dose Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine will have to wait or make other plans. As a result, several area vaccine clinics have been canceled, including: Jonesboro: Pop-up vaccine clinic scheduled for Tuesday, April 13, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Craighead County Health Unit, 611 E. Washington Ave. has been canceled. Paragould: Arkansas Methodist Medical Center announced the vaccine clinic scheduled for Tuesday, April 13, has been cancelled. Those with questions should call 870-205-2000. It will offer the Moderna vaccine on Saturday, April 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Paragould Community Center.

(KAIT) -A Paragould elementary school student is now recovering at home after being taken to a local hospital Thursday after being struck by a school bus. According to a statement from school district attorney Rebecca Worsham, the second-grade student was taken to Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. “The student was awake and alert while being transported from the accident scene to AMMC. The student was released from the hospital earlier this evening,” Worsham said Thursday. “No other students were injured.”

Pat Dowdy Pat Dowdy, 72, of Paragould, Ark., passed from this life on December 19, 2020, at the NEA Hospital, Jonesboro, Ark. She was born in the Rector, Ark., area to Norene (Eaton) Barlow. Her Uncle Hollis Eaton lovingly helped raise Pat. Pat was involved with many activities and enjoyed life to the fullest. She married Keith Dowdy on Dec. 19, 1981 and spent 39 years married to her best friend. She influenced many children with her teaching at Rector Elementary School, and in the Greenway School District, for 33 years. Pat and Keith were members of Mary Chapels General Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and led the singing for many years. After the church closed they became members of Marmaduke First Baptist, where they have attended for 14 years. They loved to travel and have visited all 50 States, including Hawaii a couple of times. She was a volunteer with the Ladies Auxiliary at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center and faithfully worked for the Nursing Home Min

(KAIT) - More and more COVID-19 vaccines are being received and given across Region 8. Arkansas Methodist Medical Center received theirs Tuesday night and began administering them Wednesday. Front-line medical personnel is the first to receive the vaccine nationwide. At AMMC, Registered Nurse Ashley DeWitte works as a director for the ICU and COVID Unit. “I’ve never had to watch people die without their family there, without someone being there to hug them,” she said. “This is the most devastating virus I’ve ever seen.”
