LONDON - Britain s royals sent birthday messages to Archie, the son of Prince Harry and his wife Meghan who unwittingly became the centre of one of the family s biggest crisis in decades earlier this year, as the youngster turned two on Thursday.
Archie Mountbatten-Windsor, the seventh-in-line to the British throne, was born at Londonâs Portland Hospital in May 2019 and now lives with his parents in Los Angeles after they left Britain and stepped away from their royal duties last year. Wishing Archie Mountbatten-Windsor a very happy 2nd birthday today, said a message posted on Queen Elizabeth s Twitter account, with similar good wishes following from Archie s grandfather, heir-to-the-throne Prince Charles, and his uncle and aunt, Prince William and wife Kate.
Others were incredulous over the old official photo used by Kate and William. You really don t have a single picture with him do you? one Twitter user wrote. Not one pic with your nephew other than a work photo? Prince Charles s post also came in for criticism for the apparent slight to the pregnant Duchess of Sussex. Rude!! He has a mother, said one commenter. I see Meghan is still being cut out of The Firm s family photos, added another. Several others pleaded with the royals to make up, encouraging Charles to pick up the phone and wish your grandson a happy birthday after Harry revealed in his Oprah interview that his father had stopped taking his calls.

Where do things stand between Harry, Meghan, and the royals now? Omid Scobie got an update for
Harper s Bazaar following Harry s trip to the UK for his grandfather Prince Philip s funeral last month. The door is open for more conversations, but there is still a lot to resolve.
A source close to Harry told Scobie that “this trip was to honor the life of his grandfather and support his grandmother and relatives. It was very much a family-focused period of time. Saturday broke the ice for future conversations but outstanding issues have not been addressed at any great length. The family simply put their issues to one side to focus on what mattered.”
