VFW Auxiliary Post 1012 announces scholarship winner

Eloise Jean-Marie, a Medford resident and junior at Arlington Catholic High School, was named as the Medford VFW Auxiliary Post 1012 first-place winner of the 2020-21 Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest.
Under the sponsorship of Medford VFW Auxiliary 1012, Jean-Marie will advance to state level competition held by the Department of Massachusetts VFW Auxiliary.
Students must submit an original two- or three-dimensional piece of artwork. Digital art, photography and jewelry are not accepted. The entry must have been completed during the 2020-21 school year and the application must include a teacher or supervising adult’s signature.
Arlington Catholic High School creates program to bridge the gap for public school eighth-graders who fell behind due to COVID

The program, which the school is referring to as a bridge program, was created out of need due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The majority of students in Catholic and private schools in Massachusetts have been in-person learning since September, while some public school students have yet to step foot back in a classroom in more than a year.
“The parents are worried because [students] missed out so much on the academics,” said John Graceffa, principal at Arlington Catholic High School. “So we’re tailoring a program for them. It’s going to be a little different than a normal eighth-grade program.”

Concord resident Lydia Robert was recently named to the second quarter honor roll at Arlington Catholic High School. Lydia is a sophomore who received grades of B or better in all classes during the second quarter.
Cambridge School of Weston
Katie Baum, of Concord, received a Scholastic Art Award. Baum earned the Silver Key in painting for “I Remember.”
James Madison University
Margaret Grace and Madison Seiss, of Concord, were named to the fall 2020 dean’s list at James Madison University.
Lasell University
Dana Tilton, a Lasell University student from Concord, received professional badges from the Harvard Agile Teacher Lab for their success in using equitable academic discussions in virtual classrooms. Tilton earned the Learn Equity Badge and the Adjust Equity Badge. Revere Wellness Team hosts Virtual Social Hour Feb. 22
The Revere Wellness Team will host a “Meet Your Neighbors” Virtual Social Hour on Monday, Feb. 22, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Ralph DeCicco of the Wellness team, also the city’s ADA Coordinator, said the event “is a chance to meet your neighbors (virtually) and win prizes while having fun.”
Revere Wellness is “a team of city staff, residents and volunteers who believe that when neighbors know each other, we can make our city better.”
