Six Nations Elected Council (SNEC)met with federal education representatives during their online council session Tuesday (Feb., 9, 2021) night to discuss a potential return to school.
IL Thomas principal Reva Bomberry , one of several educators who spoke during the more than 30 minute presentation told SNEC said “our schools are safe, but we are not responsible for the irresponsiblity that is going on in our community for the COVID cases and that reflects directly on our (return to) schools.”

Six Nations Elected Council (SNEC) was notified Thursday by Ohsweken Public Health (OPH) that the two workers tested positive, but no residents have tested positive.
“Both individuals were reported asymptomatic at the time of testing, which is a stark reminder to the community that testing is an important tool for containing further spread. I am thankful for the Lodge’s continual surveillance testing. We acted quickly to protect the residents and the team working at the Lodge,” Lori Davis-Hill director of health services said.

SIX NATIONS OF THE GRAND-Six Nations community members who return to the community after crossing the border into the USA or leaving the province must quarantine for 14 days or could face a fine of up to $1000.
Six Nations Elected Council (SNEC) released a statement Wednesday noting that Six Nations Police Services (SNPS) are facing a consistent number of community members who travel across the border despite the community’s Black Level Alert status, requiring residents to only leave home for essential purposes.

Six Nations Elected Council deferred a motion from the Business and Infrastructure committee to put paving Sixth Line Rd. at the top of public works priority list at their meeting on January 26. “I’d prefer to take a second look at this also and have some explanations,” Councillor Melba Thomas said. “Seventh Line Road was to be paved years and years ago.” Some councillors were unsure what list the committee was referring to as many had never seen the list from public works.
