NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - State Police are investigating a fatal crash that took place Saturday afternoon.
Around 12:15 p.m. a single-vehicle crash occurred on the Oyster Point Road exit ramp from Interstate 64.
According to the preliminary investigation, the driver of a 2007 BMW 335i, 23-year-old Kareem St.Ledger Solely, was traveling in the eastbound lanes at a high rate of speed when he exited the Interstate at the 256 mile marker, lost control of the vehicle, ran off the road and overturned.
Police say Solely was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. After the vehicle overturned, the vehicle struck a tree and caught fire.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - A Virginia State Police Trooper who was helping Secret Service during President Joe Biden s visit to Hampton Roads Monday was hurt after he ran his motorcycle off the road.
The crash happened around 10:11 a.m.
Virginia State Police say the Trooper ran off the left side of the road as he was negotiating a sharp turn on the Exit 250 ramp from I-64 W to Ft. Eustis Boulevard.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. A Virginia State Police motorcycle trooper was seriously hurt, after running off the road on Monday morning.
State Police say the trooper was helping the U.S. Secret Service during President Joe Biden s visit to Hampton Roads.
The trooper crashed making a sharp turn exiting I-64 to Fort Eustis Boulevard (Exit 250) in Newport News.
State Police say the trooper was taken to Riverside Regional Hospital to be treated for serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.

JAMES CITY CO., Va. - Police responded to a report of a traffic crash located on Longhill Road at Burlington Lane around 6 a.m.
The James City County Police Department and Fire Department conducted an investigation and found that a Williamsburg-James County City school bus heading west on Longhill Road collided with a 1991 Ford Minivan that was traveling east on Longhill Road in the west bound lane.
According to a news release, both vehicles swerved in an attempt to avoid the collision, but were not able to do so.
