Australia’s Counsellor for Development Cooperation, Joanna Houghton says following the cyclone, they coordinated with the Fijian Government on the provision of essential material and equipment to allow rehabilitation of the damaged infrastructure and a key priority was the electricity network.
She says they were able to rapidly procure the requested materials and had it transported on board HMAS Adelaide and on Australian Defence Force humanitarian relief flights to Fiji.
