Sweet revenge brings former professor, student together April 28, 2021ALTON Alton resident and retired attorney Ruth Larson spoke to members of the Alton Centennial Rotary Club via Zoom as the club s Guest Speaker last Thursday. She talked about why and how she became a lawyer, and her life-long dedication to the rights of women and minorities. It all began when she was a student at Antioch College, a private liberal arts college in Yellow Springs, Ohio. Antioch, in her description was a very liberal college with a work study program, under which students took semesters off to work on jobs throughout the country, and no grades, just a pass-fail system. Ruth spent her junior year abroad, in Kenya in East Africa.

Our objective is to reach out and invite anyone who hold (or be retired from) a professional, propriety, managerial, executive or community position, and live and or work within the vicinity of Alton, Barnstead or New Durham, to join us, said Regan. Rotary Club learns about projects underway in Honduras December 11, 2020ALTON The guest speaker at the Alton Centennial Rotary Club s weekly Zoom meeting last week was 7870 Past District Governor, Chris Parkinson, who for the past 20 years has been the Team Leader for the Amigos ce Honduras project in Danli, Honduras. Danli was devastated 20 years ago by Hurricane Mitch. It all but destroyed most of the homes, water and sanitation systems, and schools there. Since then, Parkinson has lead teams with 20-30 member Rotarians, with some non-Rotarian volunteers, 29 times, to help rebuild Danli. We have three objectives said Parkinson. First is to rebuild and repair their schools, next to rebuild and make hurricane proof their water and sanitation systems, and third to bring with us medical teams with prescription drugs to help save and improve lives.
