ALTON The Alton Police Department charged two suspects in the death of DeAndre S. Brewster, of Alton, who died at Alton Memorial Hospital as a result of a gunshot wound.
Those charged are Chance L. Singleton, 17, who provided a Granite City address, and Dasani T. Stewart, 20, of the 2800 block of Brown Street, in Alton. Details of an investigation were presented to the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office Tuesday.
Singleton was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, aggravated discharge of a firearm, aggravated battery with a firearm, reckless discharge of a firearm and aggravated unlawful use of weapons.

ALTON One man is dead following an early morning shooting Sunday in Alton.
According to Alton Police Chief Marcos Pulido, at about 2:31 a.m. Sunday Alton Police began receiving reports of a large fight in the 200 block of East Elm St.
As officers began to arrive in the area, gun shots were heard. A short time later, it was determined that two male subjects had been shot, Pulido said.
One of the subjects, a 22-year-old man, has died from his injuries, Pulido said. A second man suffered what Pulido described as a non-life-threatening gunshot injury.

A woman who jumped out of a moving vehicle over the weekend in Alton later died from injuries, according to a press release from the Alton Police Department.
On Saturday at about 6 p.m., Alton police responded to the 800 block of Bryan Road in Alton regarding an unresponsive female on the side of the road.
Reports indicate the woman, identified as 22-year-old Yvette Yvonne Hernandez, jumped out of a moving vehicle, according to the news release.

ALTON Charges have been filed against an Alton teen related to the theft of a van last week containing a 3-month-old child.
The 15-year-old suspect, who has not been named by authorities, has been charged by the Madison County State’s Attorney’s office with attempted murder, kidnapping and offenses related to motor vehicle theft, according to Alton Police Chief Marcos Pulido.
