Brewster, of Alton, who died at Alton Memorial Hospital as a result of a gunshot wound. Those charged are Chance L. Singleton, 17, who provided a Granite City address, and Dasani T. Stewart, 20, of the 2800 block of Brown Street, in Alton. Details of an investigation were presented to the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office Tuesday. Singleton was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, aggravated discharge of a firearm, aggravated battery with a firearm, reckless discharge of a firearm and aggravated unlawful use of weapons.

According to Alton Police Chief Marcos Pulido, at about 2:31 a.m. Sunday Alton Police began receiving reports of a large fight in the 200 block of East Elm St. As officers began to arrive in the area, gun shots were heard. A short time later, it was determined that two male subjects had been shot, Pulido said. One of the subjects, a 22-year-old man, has died from his injuries, Pulido said. A second man suffered what Pulido described as a non-life-threatening gunshot injury.
