Governor Asa Hutchinson said Monday that the Arkansas Department of Health had reported 69 new cases of COVID-19 within the state. This put the number of active cases at 1,640 with 156 hospitalized, which was down seven from Sunday. Of those hospitalized, 17 were on ventilators, which was unchanged from Sunday.
Four more deaths were attributed to the virus for a total of 5,665 statewide out of the total reported of 332,222 cases.
âOur number of active cases and hospitalizations declined again yesterday,â Hutchinson said. âOur vaccine numbers are increasing, but we must do more. If you are 16 and older then you are eligible for the vaccine. It is important that our eligible high school students get a dose. Get your vaccine as soon as you can.â
Those who have not received a COVID-19 vaccine in Ashley County will now have an opportunity to do so in only one dose.
The Ashley County Department of Health will host a mass COVID-19 clinic from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 14 at First Baptist Church in Hamburg.
The clinic will offer the Johnson and Johnson vaccine, which only requires one dose. The Moderna vaccine, which is available at Walmart Pharmacy and Gammelâs Clinic Pharmacy in Crossett, is considered fully effective when completely administered but requires two doses for full administration.
The doses will be available to anyone 18 or older on a first-come, first served basis, and will be provided without out-of-pocket expense for the recipient.
