Toyota has achieved a significant milestone on its path towards a zero-emission future, selling the brand’s 200,000
th hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) in Australia.
A total of 210,817 Toyota HEVs have been sold in this country to the end of June 2021, led by Camry, RAV4, Corolla and Prius.
The most recent 100,000 sales took just three years with demand accelerating as customers capitalise on the benefits of money-saving economy and low emissions.
It took until mid-2018 for Toyota to pass 100,000 HEV deliveries, almost 17 years after the original Prius hybrid was launched in 2001.

Toyota has improved the safety and styling of its best-selling LandCruiser Prado large SUV range, introducing new active safety technology on lower variants while boosting the visual appeal of the family off-roader.
Following a comprehensive update in August 2020, the Prado has been further upgraded, with additional advanced safety features that were previously reserved for higher-grade variants, according to a statement by the automaker.
Toyota Australia Vice President Sales, Marketing and Franchise Operations Sean Hanley said the safety of all Toyota customers was of utmost importance.
“We are committed to ensuring our customers benefit from the peace of mind that comes with the latest advanced safety features,” Hanley said.

The changes will see every RAV4 petrol and hybrid variant gain new improvements, with production commencing in December 2021.
Toyota Australia Vice President Sales, Marketing and Franchise Operations Sean Hanley said the update would further boost the appeal of the successful RAV4.
“The RAV4’s mix of style and practicality, and in particular, its hybrid powertrain, really resonates with buyers and these upgrades will add to that appeal,” Mr Hanley said.
