A patient transport team is challenging themselves by walking 110 miles for a cause close to their hearts. Across two weekends in June, 5 and 6, 12 and 13, a team of 15 people will walk across two counties to raise money for the Samaritans Emergency Appeal. The Covid crisis is the biggest challenge Samaritans has ever faced. Before the pandemic hit, 20,000 volunteers were answering a call for help every six seconds.

It will start at Dunstable ambulance station and pass through several locations, including St Albans, Watford and Kings Langley, before ending back at Luton.
Residents spotted the air ambulance circling above homes in Eastwood at around 3.15pm this afternoon. After hovering in the area, the air ambulance descended and landed in a field near Rayleigh Road behind the Eastwood Academy and Kingsdown Schools. It is understood the air ambulance has now left the scene following the incident. It is unknown how many people have been seriously injured. Resident Kimberley O Connell saw the aircraft landing at the scene. She said: There was quite a few people down there. We are all concerned for the wellbeing of anyone that has been injured. The East of England Ambulance Service Trust and Essex Police have been contacted for comment.

Ambulance crews and the South Woodham Ferrers Coastguard were called to High Street after the incident yesterday afternoon at about 2.10pm. A coastguard spokesman said: Tasked at 14:10 to assist East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust with a casualty who had fallen on the sea wall just off the High Street Burnham on Crouch. On arrival, ambulance crew were attending to the casualty, and Coastguard officers setup a cordon to provide some space for ambulance staff and maintain privacy and dignity.
