A ROAD in Southend is closed after reports of a crash between a bus and pedestrian. An air ambulance is attending the scene of the crash in East Street, Southend, which is now closed in both directions. Essex Travel News say the incident happened near the junction with the A127, and the road is closed between the A127 and Station Approach near the Railway Tavern Pub. It is not known if there have been any serious injuries. Delays are building in the area and the road could be closed for some time. Motorists are advised to avoid the area. Essex Police and the East of England Ambulance Service have been contacted for comment.

Calls have been made for a dental school in Norfolk, as NHS practices across the county struggle to meet the increasing demand for appointments.
Alex Stewart, chief executive of Healthwatch Norfolk, said he “can’t see an easy way out as dental practices are working “flat out” at full capacity, forcing many to travel miles from their homes or opt for private treatment.
Mr Stewart said the situation in Norfolk has been made worse since the pandemic began and the only way to tackle the problem is for dentists to come to the county.

A road in Northwood has reopened after a collision involving a van and a pedestrian caused it to shut in both directions.
Herts Police and the ambulance service attended the scene on Sandy Lane and the road was completely shut for around three hours.
Police say the road was shut between The Woods and Batchworth Lane from around 9.40am today (Thursday, May 13). They advised that drivers avoid the area if possible but traffic is now flowing freely.
