Clayton County man arrested in child exploitation investigation Published  The GBI arrested Timothy Darryl Battle on Monday. The GBI Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit began an investigation into Battle’s online activity after receiving a Cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding the possession of a large number of child pornography images and videos. Investigators obtained a warrant to search Battle s home. The GBI CEACC Unit was assisted in the execution of their search warrant by the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office. Officials said Battle was in Clayton County Jail on Tuesday. Birmingham man sentenced to 65 years in prison on child pornography charges

From The Tribune staff reports BIRMINGHAM  – A federal judge on Wednesday sentenced a man on child pornography charges, announced U.S. Attorney Prim F. Escalona. U.S. District Court Judge Abdul K. Kallon sentenced Guillermo Martin Lopez, 31, to 65 years in prison followed by 10 years of supervised release.  Lopez pleaded guilty in December 2020 to two counts of production of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.  This conviction will require him to register as a sex offender in accordance with the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA). CRANSTON, RI A Rhode Island corrections officer is accused of sending sexually inappropriate messages to a person he believed to be a teenage boy, state police said. Thomas Nolan, 56, faces two counts of electronically disseminating indecent material to a minor. According to police, Nolan sent messages to a person he believed to be a 14-year-old-boy, but was actually a member of the Rhode Island Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. The conversation became sexually explicit, state police said, and Nolan reportedly sent indecent material.
