Arianespace to launch 36 sats of OneWeb of Bharti-UK govt Dec 18 IANS
Chennai: Europe’s satellite launch company Arianespace will be launching 36 OneWeb constellation satellites December 18, using medium lift Russian rocket Soyuz out of Vostochny Cosmodrome in Russia.
OneWeb, a low earth orbit (LEO) broadband satellite communications company, is a consortium between the UK government and Indian telecom group Bharti Global Ltd.
In November 2020 OneWeb announced that it has emerged from US Chapter 11 bankruptcy petition. A consortium of UK Government and Bharti Global, has invested $1bn of new equity to offer broadband connectivity services, via a constellation of 650 LEO satellites.
According to Arianespace, the 36 OneWeb satellites have been encapsulated in the payload fairing or heat shield of the rocket.
Jamshedpur: Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) chairman Kailasavadivoo Sivan urged young engineers to work on developing technologies keeping contemporary requirements of the people in mind.
“Young engineers should keep Mahatma Gandhi’s thoughts in mind who advocated for local solutions for local problems. Our education and knowledge should be utilised effectively in addressing the unresolved issues of sanitisation, health, drinking water and others,” Sivan said.
The top Isro official was speaking as the chief guest at the 10th convocation of the National Institute of Technology (NIT-Jamshedpur) for the students of B Tech and M Tech of batches 2016-20 and 2018-20 on Saturday.

MTAR Tech files IPO papers to raise Rs 600-650 crore

NEW DELHI: MTAR Technologies, a precision engineering solutions company, has filed preliminary papers with capital markets regulator Sebi to raise an estimated Rs 600-650 crore through an initial share-sale.
The IPO comprises fresh issuance of up to 40 lakh shares and an offer for sale of up to 82,24,270 shares from promoter and other existing shareholders, according to draft herring prospectus.
Proceeds from the fresh issue will be used to repay debt, fund long-term working capital requirements besides attending to general corporate purpose.
