81 kg ganja, 1,280 litre IMFL seized in West Zone Updated: Updated: Share Article AAA The police seized 81 kg ganja worth ₹ 7.25 lakh and 1,280.36 litre of illegally stocked Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) valued ₹ 7.12 lakh during special drives conducted in eight districts in the West Zone. While 39 persons were arrested for the possession and sale of ganja in the special drives held in the last 15 days, the police booked 536 persons for illegal stocking and sale of IMFL in the last three days. The special drives initiated by R. Dhinakaran, Inspector General of Police (West Zone), were aimed at curbing peddling of ganja and illegal stocking-cum-sale of liquor in bars attached to Tasmac outlets before and after the Government stipulated working hours.

Image Source: IANS News Ballia : March 9 (IANS) Action has been initiated against two sub-inspectors and three constables in Ballia district for having links with liquor smugglers. This comes three days after action was taken against 22 policemen in Chandauli for similar reasons. According to the government spokesman, senior officials had got intelligence inputs of a nexus between local policemen and smugglers for transporting liquor in bordering Bihar, which is a dry state. Following this, strict vigil was maintained, and this led to the seizure of two big liquor consignments in Ballia by a special team after which policemen posted at Haldi and Dubahar police stations came on radar of Superintendent of Police (SP) Vipin Tada.

Image Source: IANS News Chandigarh, March 4 : The Punjab Cabinet headed by Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Thursday approved several key recommendations of the Sixth Punjab Finance Commission, including compensation against revenue loss on certain counts. The commission had submitted seven recommendations for 2021-22 to the Punjab Governor on January 29. While six were approved by the Cabinet, one relating to continuation of devolution of four per cent share of state taxes to Local Bodies for 2021-22 will be examined by a Group of Ministers, an official spokesperson said after the meeting.
