India reports more than one lakh coronavirus cases in last 24 hours ANI / Updated: Apr 5, 2021, 11:27 IST India reported more than 1,03,558 cases new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, informed the Union Health Ministry on Monday. With this, India entered the list of countries, along with the US, to report more than 1 lakh cases in a day. With these additional cases, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country has reached 1,25,89,067. With 478 new deaths, the death toll in India has gone up to 1,65,101. There are 7,41,830 active cases in the nation as of now. Furthermore, 52,847 people were discharged after recovery on Sunday, taking the nationwide recovery tally to 1,16,82,136.

With the addition of fresh infections, the total cases in the country reached 1,14,38,734, including 2,34,406 active cases and 1,10,45,284 recoveries. Covid-19 Tracker: Eight out of top 10 districts with active coronavirus cases are in Maharashtra

COVID-19 cases are in Maharashtra, stated Union Health and Family Welfare Secretary Rajesh Bhushan in course of a press briefing on the actions taken, preparedness and updates on COVID-19, held at National Media Centre in New Delhi today. Pune with 18,474 cases tops the list, followed by Nagpur with 12,724 cases, then Thane with 10,460 cases and Mumbai with 9,973 cases. The other districts of Maharashtra in the list are Amravati, Jalgaon, Nashik and Aurangabad. The Health Secretary further stated that active cases are rising in the country, after touching the lowest mark in mid-February. In the last one month, the states like Maharashtra, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Haryana have shown a rise in the number of active cases, while the cases have shown a decline in Kerala, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal, he added.
