Waste water upgrades continue in Waterloo

WATERLOO â The Town of Waterloo continues to look for grant possibilities to help pay for $9 million in renovations, which are needed at the townâs sewage treatment plant. In January, the town began work on applying for a $9 million grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture for the project. On Tuesday night, Town Manager Pam Howard informed the town board that she recently completed a State Water Infrastructure Fund grant request, asking for $5 million from the state. During the January town council meeting, Howard said the renovations include the construction of a wet-weather system and screen, ultraviolet lights and new headworks, and an update existing lift stations and collection systems.

The Indiana Department of Transportation announced I-94 will be reduced to one lane in each direction near the U.S 20/35 interchange beginning Friday at 6 p.m. to set up a bridge project. This lane reduction will be altered in the early hours of Saturday to two lanes in each direction as crews begin construction on the median and center lanes going over the bridge. Motorists in both directions will have the end lane and the shoulder to travel on during this construction project that is projected to run through mid-September.

SR 110 closure east of U S 31

The Indiana Department of Transportation announced a part of SR 110 will be closed starting Monday to repair a railroad crossing. This railroad crossing on SR 110 is located between C.R. 100 East/Iris Road and C.R. 200 East/Hawthorn Road. Construction on the railroad crossing is estimated to take four days depending on weather conditions. An official detour for this construction zone will follow U.S. 31, SR 14 and SR 25.
