INDIANA AREA PROVIDES INFORMATION ON SUMMER CAMPS

May 28, 2021 Dear Families: Thank you so much for your commitment to sign your child(ren) up for the Indiana Area School District’s Summer Acceleration Camps!  We are pleased to announce that we have more than 400 students enrolled in the summer program, and we cannot wait to get started!  As you may or may not know, this camp, through the vision and leadership of the IASD Board of Directors, is available to our families at no cost. We are pleased to invest the federal funds we received exactly where they are needed – in our students. As we are fast approaching the start of our summer camp, we wanted to provide you with some timely information regarding the camp itself. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your child(ren)’s school.  Here are some details to get you started:

But that search has ended, with the board instead deciding to hire Rizzo. Rizzo began his career as a band director in the East Allegheny School District in 1993. Since that time, he has served as a band director for Penn Hills School District and Indiana Area School District, as well as an assistant principal at Indiana Area Senior High School, principal at Ben Franklin Elementary School, coordinator of instructional technology for Indiana Area School District, and most recently, assistant superintendent of the Indiana Area School District. Rizzo is currently pursuing his Doctorate of Educational Leadership: Instructional Technology through Wilkes University. He earned his Superintendent’s Letter of Eligibility in 2015 from California University of Pennsylvania, his Principal Certification and Master of Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and is a graduate of Penn State University.

ONE NEW CASE OF COVID-19 REPORTED AT INDIANA AREA SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL

The Voice of Indiana County Local News May 25, 2021 | 11:53 AM The Indiana Area School District reports one new case of COVID-19 in the Senior High School today. In an update posted to the district website, Superintendent Michael Vuckovich said that a student tested positive for COVID-19 and reports say that more than 40 total students and staff members between the junior and senior high schools will have to quarantine, with the majority stemming from the student participating in extracurricular activities. Vuckovich said the school will stay open as per the district’s current model. As of today, only one other active case is reported, that coming from Eisenhower Elementary.

Superintendent Michael Vuckovich said in the statement that there were two new inquiries “about text messages being sent on behalf of another set of candidates running for school board.”  Over the weekend, the district said that email messages had been sent.  This time it was texts. As in the first incident, Vuckovich made clear that the district had not released an email or cell phone information to any individual or group running for the board, saying that they’d done an exhaustive search of their systems and found no data breaches.  He wrote that they don’t know where the candidates obtained the information, but they will “make sure n
