Maurice John Fox, 76, of Commodore, PA passed away peacefully on January 14, 2021 at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA after a lengthy battle with liver disease. He is now with his Lord and Savior. The son of Chester and Alberta Fox, he was born on May 6, 1944 in DuBois, PA. Maurice graduated from Reynoldsville-Sykesville High School in 1962. He was awarded many football awards including being the defensive player of the week numerous times.
He served in the United States Navy in Norfolk, VA aboard the USS Vulcan from 1962 to 1966. He later served two years in the United States Naval Reserves. A Vietnam era veteran, Maurice was honorably discharged in 1968 with the rank of Petty Officer Second Class.

OLMSTED FALLS, Ohio Local auto care owner Corey Evaldi is moving full speed ahead in a brake special that is traveling nationwide to help St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital – and his clients.
Corey owns Olmsted Auto Care on Cook Road in Olmsted Township. His shop and about 40 others across the country are offering free brake pads or shoes with any brake repair for customers from Feb. 1 through March 31. That’s not all. The shops are donating 10 percent of all brake repair work to St. Jude, a pediatric cancer research center in Memphis, Tennessee. This charity event is called Brakes for Kids.

240 Strings will hold its third livestreamed performance of the season later this month.
Anastasia Antonacos, of the Portland Piano Trio, will play some solo piano music by European, African-American, Afro-Caribbean, and Asian-American composers and arrangers on Jan. 22 at 7 p.m.
Antonacos has performed around the world as a soloist and chamber musician. She has testified before the federal Appropriations Committee in support of funding for the National Endowment for the Arts, and her solo CD, “Colour is the Keyboard,” was recorded and produced by Bob Ludwig of Gateway Mastering Studios.
MECHANICSBURG, Pa.
Fourteen students selected for employment at Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) Business Systems Center (BSC) through the Department of Defense (DOD) Cyber Scholarship Program (CySP) completed a virtual command orientation, January 7.
The orientation was the first of a two-part program designed to familiarize and acclimate the students with civil service at NAVSUP BSC. This is the second group of students to go through the first phase of orientation since January 2020.
NAVSUP BSC has hired five full-time employees through the DOD CySP in the information technology (IT) fields. Six more students are expected to start work following graduation in May.
