A mobility scooter rider tried to blame a dodgy footpath for his crash into a car, but a subsequent breath test showed there may have been other factors at play.
Ipswich Magistrates Court on Wednesday heard disability pensioner Llewellyn Jessell was almost three times the legal alcohol limit when he hit trouble at North Booval on March 24.
Jessell was driving to a hotel to play the pokies after drinking wine at home.
Llewellyn James Jessell, 43, from North Booval, pleaded guilty to drink driving.
Prosecutor Sergeant Paul Caldwell said police were called to Wattle St at 9.30pm.

A MUM who claimed to have suffered years of verbal abuse and racist taunts from neighbours said she snapped before assaulting one of her alleged tormentors.
âIâm over your f ing mouth,â Tracey Miller was said to have yelled as she gave chase across an Ipswich street, delivering a series of punches to the back of a fleeing womanâs head.
Her violent outburst landed Miller before Ipswich Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
Tracey Catherine Miller, 40, from Bellbird Park, pleaded guilty to one count of common assault on February 7.
Prosecutor Senior Constable Bridie OâShea said Miller was reported as saying she was âover you threatening us, over your f ing mouthâ as she ran after the complainant.

A DAD charged with keeping a baton in his car argued that he should have the right to defend himself and his children if attacked.
Bruce Malcolm said people âcould do more damage with a spoonâ than the baton the was the subject of the charge heard at Ipswich Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
Prosecutor Sergeant Paul Caldwell said Malcolm told police officers the extendible baton was, âto protect me from Sudanese who try to steal my carâ. Bruce James Malcolm, 41, a landscaper from Dinmore, pleaded guilty to being in possession of a restricted item at Bundamba on February 20.

Rodney Arthur Clements, 38, from West Ipswich, appeared via watch-house video-link before Ipswich Magistrates Court on Tuesday charged with committing an assault causing grievous bodily harm at Brisbane St on Monday, April 5. Prosecutor Senior Constable Bridie O Shea said police opposed bail. Written police facts were handed up to Magistrate David Shepherd to read. Nothing of the allegation was read onto the public record. In making the bail application, lawyer Matthew Fairclough said Clements resided at the hotel and would abide by any curfew if bail was granted.
