Boxes are available to anyone in the community that feels they need extra fresh food. More details are available here. And Friday, there will be another food distribution. This time, it’s a joint effort of the Salvation Army of La Crosse County and Hunger Task Force. This distribution starts at three at the Salvation Army’s warehouse on Nelson Place in La Crosse.

(WKBT) – The hard work of volunteers is a vital part of organizations in our community. The Salvation Army of La Crosse County is celebrating the helpers that make their organization today with a ceremony Tuesday morning. As part of the celebration, the 2020 Volunteer of the Year Award was given to Ed Tanke. The long-time volunteer has dating back more than a half-century. The recognition came as a surprise to Tanke. “You do it without recognition. I didn’t even know if I was going to come today. I had no idea this was going to happen,” said Salvation Army of La Crosse County volunteer of the year.

$1.4 million HUD grant to go toward housing & community day resource center, runaway & homeless youth shelter March 10, 2021 10:31 PM Molly Ringberg LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Two new services are helping struggling kids in La Crosse. In a collaboration between several local non-profits,  HUD is awarding $1.4 million to establish a new housing day resource center and emergency shelter for runaways and homeless youth. A first-of-its-kind project in our community, it will address gaps in services for kids and adults experiencing housing instability. The resource center will have on-site staff to help to connect people to programs including homelessness prevention, wellness services, nutritional assistance, addiction treatment, case management, an overnight shelter, and runaway & homeless youth services.
