TURLOCK, Calif., Dec. 22, 2020 /PRNewswire/ Solar Energy Partners (SEP), one of California s highest rated and fastest growing solar energy brokerages, today announced that they have officially partnered with The Salvation Army, the nation s largest social-services organization, through their Red Kettle & Angel Tree programs to aid those in need. With a need to help 155% more people than usual this season, The Salvation Army supports homeless shelters, grocery assistance, and Bill-pay assistance - helping struggling households pay their utility bills.
Donations to the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle fundraiser are down this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, the charity said.
With a $1.1 million goal, there’s a 30% gap in donations as the Salvation Army National Capital Area Command tries to meet an increased demand by people, including area families and veterans, who are financially struggling.
“There are a few reasons for the dip in kettle donations,” said Mark Woodcock, an area commander major with the nonprofit.
Woodcock said it has been a shorter-than-usual bell-ringing season and there’s been lighter-than-normal foot traffic at area retailers.
“This has been a rough period, financially, for many families some of whom reached out for the very first time to receive help from The Salvation Army,” Woodcock said.

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) Terre Haute Police Department volunteered as bell ringers for the Salvation Army s Red Kettle campaign at Rural King in Terre Haute on Saturday.
Officers rotated shifts from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. in front of the store and spent time interacting with customers as they entered and exited the store.
Terre Haute Police Chief , Shawn Keen, said volunteering allows them the chance to give back outside of their everyday jobs. I think this last year has been tough on just about everybody. This is the time of year that i think we need to do more of this and give back. Our community has always been so great to us and we re trying to do something to pay that back, he said.
