Like many college teams around the country, the COVID-19 pandemic hit Maryland women’s lacrosse hard.
“You feel like you just got hit by a truck,” head coach Cathy Reese said.
The Terps started the 2020 season at 1-3, a new low for head coach Cathy Reese during her illustrious tenure, but bounced back with solid victories against Navy and Hofstra to put the Terps back at .500 ahead of conference play.
But just as quickly as the Terrapins seemed to be turning its season around, the floor was swept out from underneath them as the coronavirus pandemic halted the season.

As the saying goes, the NFL draft starts in Mobile each year during the final week of January with over 100 of college football s top prospects competing in the Senior Bowl.
More than any other year, however, the stakes have been raised even further due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The league has already canceled the 2021 NFL Scouting Combine, instead having schools replace the event with their own pro days and placing more emphasis on the postseason all-star games to showcase top talent.
With the Senior Bowl now in the rearview mirror, draft boards for teams across the league are likely to change following the week of festivities down in Mobile, Alabama.
NFL.com s Bucky Brooks finally released his first mock draft for the 2021 NFL Draft. Of course, a lot can change between now and April 29. But in his initial attempt to predict how the first round will play out, Brooks predicts the Giants boost the defense with the selection of Miami edge rusher Gregory Rousseau.
Rousseau was one of the many prospects to opt out of the 2020 season due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. However, the 6-foot-7, 265-pound pass rusher enjoyed a breakout campaign in 2019.

(alongside Trey Smith). Phillips Redlands East Valley High School in Redlands, California, and Phillips went to UCLA. After a few in game injuries, and an off the field accident, Phillips retired from football for a year before transferring to Miami. Phillips had 8 tackles for a loss and 4.5 sacks, along with 41 tackles in 10 games for the UCLA Bruins. In 10 games with the Hurricanes, he had 45 tackles, 15.5 tackles for a loss, 8 sacks, one interception, and 3 passes defended. Phillips filled in very well for Gregory Rousseau who opted out of the season.

Marissa Guimbarda (OF/UTL) have been named to the Atlantic Coast Conference’s 2021 Preseason All-ACC Team, the league office announced Thursday. The preseason all-conference distinctions mark a first for the program, which enters its second season in 2021. Additionally, the Tigers were predicted to finish in sixth in the ACC standings, according to the league’s head coaches.
Cagle dominated as a true freshman for the Tigers in 2020. Having started in all 27 games last season, including 13 starts in the circle, Cagle hit .376 and was tenth in the nation in home runs (10), making her the only freshman in the country with double-digit homers. She was also second in the nation and led the league with 36 RBIs. Last season, Cagle was the only player in the conference to earn ACC Player of the Week honors on two occasions (Feb. 18 & March 3). The Yorktown, Virginia native was also one of four players in the country to record eight RBIs in a single game. Her e
