Oregon Prisons Have Vaccinated More Than 1,300 “Older Adult” and Medically Vulnerable Inmates Earlier Than Pledged DOC says the vaccinations were a result of a “miscommunication.” COVID-19 vaccine doses in Multnomah County. (Motoya Nakamura) Updated January 21 While a debate rages over the priority for scarce COVID-19 vaccines, the Department of Corrections on Jan. 16 and 17 vaccinated 1,343 older adults or those deemed medically vulnerable. Another 316 adults under age 60 got the vaccine because there were leftover doses. It appears some of those vaccinations weren t supposed to happen yet. Currently in Oregon, only people who fall under the 1A category are supposed to be vaccinated, such as those in nursing homes, for example. Prison inmates do not fall in that category.
