The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a press release in this regard. Eight more Bangladeshis are supposed to return to the country tomorrow after serving their jail terms at Malir prison in Pakistan s Sindh province. The eight expatriate workers legally employed on an Omani fishing boat were held by Pakistani coast guard for entering the country s water territory in the Arab sea. They will return to Bangladesh with the funding of foreign ministry, UNB said quoting the press release.

Another eight Bangladeshi nationals, released from Malir Jail, will return to the country today with financial assistance from the Foreign Ministry. These eight expatriates were legal workers on a fishing boat in Oman. In May 2019, while they were fishing in the Arabian Sea adjacent to Oman, Pakistani Coast Guard held them as their fishing boat plunged into Pakistani waters due to strong current. Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen directly supervised the matter and gave the government approval for travel expenses including airfare considering their financial status to bring them back to the country as soon as possible.
