GALESBURG The Knox County Health Department announced nine new cases of COVID-19 between Tuesday and Thursday, bringing the county total of cases to 5,744.
Added to the 5 cases reported earlier this week, the weekly count for COVID cases sits at 14.
The new cases include two under the age of 10, two in their 10s, one person in her 20s, three in their 30s and one person in his 50s.
As of Friday, Knox County had administered 44,892 COVID-19 vaccines to 22,194 county residents, making up 44.29% of the county population.
Knox County’s next unified command vaccination clinic outside of Galesburg will be at Hi-Lo Grocery at 503 Commercial Drive in Abingdon from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 13.

Illinois public health officials say they will follow federal guidelines put forth Friday that allow vaccinated students to forego face masks in school this fall, but some suburban schools wonder how they d apply standards that also call for unvaccinated students to wear masks.
