Heavy Snow Creating Difficult Travel Conditions In Chicago Area

CHICAGO (CBS) Whether driving or walking, the heavy snowfall in the Chicago area will likely be a significant challenge for those looking to get out Sunday as the snow keeps falling.
Thick snow covered the area overnight, and the City of Chicago had around 300 salt spreaders and plows out clearing main roads. When that is complete they will move on to residential streets. Meanwhile, the Illinois Department of Transportation had more than 1,800 trucks and equipment out tackling the roads.

A Winter Storm Warning for the entire Chicago area has been issued, with snow forecasts predicting 5 to 9 inches of precipitation falling mostly overnight Saturday into Sunday.
East Alton smoke stacks not coming down Monday

Demolition plans have changed for the Wood River Power Station in East Alton on Monday. Officials now say only the building there will come down Monday; three smoke stacks are planned for demolition in the next month or so.
EAST ALTON Plans have changed for demolition work planned Monday at the Wood River Power Station on Illinois 143 in East Alton.
Initially Spirtas Wrecking Company had planned to implode three smoke stacks and a building at the site. On Saturday East Alton Fire Chief Timothy Quigley announced only the building will be razed Monday; removing the smoke stacks will wait for at least a month.

The Lake County Division of Transportation has launched a website created for the COVID era to gather public input about upgrades to a 1½-mile segment of Arlington Heights Road in the far southern part of the county.
