The city of Peru has gotten some funding to have senior housing built in the city.
Lawyer John Brandt says the Illinois Housing Development Authority announced 29 million dollars in tax credits and the city of Peru is getting some of it to help build the housing.
The Diamond Senior Apartments of Peru will be the name of the new complex.
Three Diamond Development will be in charge of building the properties.
Peru is one of two non-metro communities to get approval for the new single story apartments with modern amenities.
Illinois is starting to see a consistent downward trend in new daily COVID-19 cases. Yesterday, state officials reported 933 new cases, which brought the seven-day average to the lowest number it’s been since late July. Officials also said Monday that 65% of adults in the state have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, which is nearing President Joe Biden’s goal of 70% of adults .
