On Sunday night, Isla Vista Community Services District President Spencer Brandt issued a statement regarding the incident, saying that there was no timely warning given to Isla Vista residents.
“As of yet, there has been no timely notification to the residents of Isla Vista, leaving Isla Vista residents in the dark about a dangerous incident that occurred in our community,” Brandt said. “The absence of a timely notification creates alarm and confusion, and prevents local residents from taking proactive measures to keep ourselves safe.”
The incident occurred just days before the 7th anniversary of the 2014 Isla Vista massacre, in which six students were killed.
