Pakistan has received 1.2 million doses of AstraZeneca via the World Health Organisation s COVAX facility, according to the National Health Ministry.
A private airplane carrying the doses landed at the Islamabad International Airport on Saturday. The WHO s COVAX programme seeks to provide vaccines to countries across the world.
Last month, the United States sent 2.5 million Moderna doses to Pakistan which were used on those who had to travel for work or study to countries that were only accepting certain vaccines.

LAHORE: As many as 2.5 million doses of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine donated by the United States arrived at the Islamabad International Airport on Friday.
These vaccines are being delivered to the Pakistani people in collaboration with the COVAX global vaccine initiative, UNICEF, and the Government of Pakistan.
Commenting on the development, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the US delivery of 2.5 million doses of Moderna vaccine to Pakistan “highlights our enduring friendship and cooperation on COVID-19. We are committed to bringing this pandemic to an end around the world.”
Prime Minister Special Assistant on Health, Dr Faisal Sultan tweeted to welcome the arrival of vaccine “to add to our covid vaccination efforts and reflective of Pak-US friendship.”
