The total number of cases in Lubbock County is 46,452: 2,006 active, 43,786 listed as recovered and 660 total deaths. As of 4:00 p.m. on Jan. 26, there are a combined 17 open hospital beds and 42 patients holding for beds at University Medical Center and Covenant Health System.

State Of Texas establishes alternate care site In Lubbock to expand hospital capacity (Source: (Sergio Flores para The Texas Tribune)) By KCBD Staff | January 25, 2021 at 2:49 PM CST - Updated January 25 at 3:40 PM LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - Governor Greg Abbott today announced that the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM), in partnership with the City of Lubbock, Lubbock County, Covenant Health System, and UMC Health System, has established an Alternate Care Site in Lubbock to expand hospital capacity in the region. Opening today at the former Grace Medical Center, the facility will provide the South Plains with additional hospital beds, medical equipment, and medical personnel to assist with the region’s COVID-19 response.
