A CONSTRUCTION firm has partnered with a sports and leisure facility to provide free gym memberships for residents. Drew Smith, based in Durley has partnered with Wyvern Sports and Leisure to provide free gym membership for their residents in Fair Oak. The firm says it is not only passionate about building houses but also want to build happy and healthy communities . Work on its new Pembers Hill Park development is going well with residents starting to move in and now the firm is working to provide each resident over the age of 16 with a free gym membership throughout June.
Each spring, Elizabethtown College honors the outstanding efforts of its students by offering awards across various areas of campus. Awards categories include Campus Recreation and Well-being, Community Living, the Center for Civic and Community Engagement, the Chaplain’s Office, the Office of Diversity, Inclusion & Title IX, Office of Student Activities as well as overall Distinguished Student Awards and the Points of Distinction Award, the highest Student Life honor a student can receive at Etown.
Distinguished Student Awards are given to two students from each class year who have shown the effective integration of the four signature learning attributes at Elizabethtown; relationship-centered learning, international and cross-cultural perspectives, real-world learning, and purposeful life work. Out of these winners, the Point of Distinction Scholar Award is given to the student believed to have shown this integration to the highest degree. Students are nominated for these awards
Caddo Common Park s spring, summer, and fall programming will launch this month, announced The Parish of Caddo Parks and Recreation Department and the Shreveport Regional Arts Council.
Caddo Common Park is the city s first programmable greenspace, located in the heart of Shreveport Common on the western edge of downtown. The program series is sponsored by Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport and combines a healthy dose of exercise, wellness education, and fitness opportunities with dynamic, diverse arts programming.
All programs and activities are free of charge and are designed for multi-generational audiences.
Caddo Common Park programming kicks off from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 25 with “Sunday in the Park. Featured artists include Chessi May leading yoga, a hands-on art activity with Jerry Davenport, and plein air painting with Bonnie Kirkley demonstrating watercolor techniques. Performances will be by HARK!, Songbook of the South, “Little Mermaid” by StageCenter
