Closure orders served against two food outlets

Updated / Monday, 8 Mar 2021 14:50 Two food outlets were closed last month due to breaches of food safety regulations. The Food Safety Authority of Ireland said the Soma restaurant and café on Tuckey Street in Cork was closed due to a grave and immediate danger to public health. It said rodent droppings were found in the service area of the restaurant and in a store room, where both food and non-food items were kept. The FSAI also ordered the closure of the Twisted Dough Wicklow, a food stall trading at The Crescent in Boyle, Co Roscommon. Concerns over cross-contamination were raised after an inspection found that raw chicken was being prepared on a folding table beside the coffee machine at a food stall.

Food stall operated by Leitrim couple and trading in Boyle issued with closure order Reporter:   ); The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) today reported that a Closure Order was served under the FSAI Act, 1998 on the Twisted Dough Wicklow (Service Sector), Food stall trading at The Crescent Boyle,  Roscommon during the the month of February for breaches of food safety legislation. The Enforcement Orders were issued by environmental health officers in the Health Service Executive (HSE) and officers of the FSAI. The order was issued on the premises occupied by Mr Karol Kowalczyk and Ms Magdalena Michalewicz at Leitrim Village, Co. Leitrim and name trading as Twisted Dough Wicklow (Stall) and which was trading at The Crescent, Boyle, Co. Roscommon on Thursday, 11th of February 2021.

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland also issued two businesses with prohibition orders in the month of February. 1 Closures were served in food businesses in Roscommon and Cork. Soma on 23 Tuckey Street in Co Cork was ordered to shut on February 12 2021 under the FSAI Act 1998, with the order lifted the next day. The FSAI inspectors found rodent droppings in a store room as well as in the vicinity of the service area of the restaurant.
