County Executive Latimer has sent his federal legislative requests to the federal delegation that represents Westchester County
Westchester County Executive George Latimer has sent his federal legislative requests to the federal delegation that represents Westchester County. The priorities were compiled by the Westchester County Department of Intergovernmental Relations under Latimer’s leadership. Department of Intergovernmental Relations Director Steve Bass led the team along with Deputy Director Ellen Hendrickx and Intergovernmental Relations Aide Kyle McIntyre.
While there are a number of federal priorities, the top priority for the Latimer Administration is the repeal of the SALT tax cap. The law now caps the SALT deduction at $10,000, resulting in double taxation and raised taxes on thousands of middle-class families in Westchester who depended on that deduct
  The City of Española Public Safety Committee heard a brief presentation at its April 7 meeting about a new web-based overdose mapping and tracking tool, called ODMAP. Mark Scroggins, a drug intelligence officer for the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) program of the federal Drug Enforcement Agency and Project R.A.C.E. Program Manager Justine Valencia made presentation to the Committee.
   The tool was developed by the Washington/Baltimore HIDTA office and is deployed in jurisdictions nationwide. It allows the police and fire departments to track overdoses that require intervention or transportation to the hospital, including deaths. Public safety officials can then analyze the data and direct drug enforcement officers or public health resources to âhotspotâ areas.
One Ton of Cocaine Seized from Sub near Puerto Rico

CBP Air and Marine Operations agents assisted in the interdiction and seizure of more than one ton of cocaine from a semi-submersible vessel near Puerto Rico. The seizure led to the arrest and indictment of three people for a variety of drug trafficking and maritime law violations.
AMO agents assisted the U.S. Coast Guard in interdicting a semi-submersible vessel sailing toward Puerto Rico on April 8, according to information obtained from U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials. A search of the vessel led to the discovery of more than 5,500 pounds of cocaine.
