Toyota reveals first images of GR010 HYBRID Le Mans Hypercar for 2021 WEC Autosport 13/01/2021 © LAT Images Toyota reveals first images of GR010 HYBRID Hypercar Toyota has released the first pictures of its new Le Mans Hypercar and the name for its latest World Endurance Championship challenger. The Japanese manufacturer has put out shots of the car, which has been christened the GR010 HYBRID, in camouflage ahead of its official unveiling on Friday when the car will be shown in its 2021 livery. The GR stands for Gazoo Racing, Toyota s new sporty sub-brand, while the three-digit numbering system of the marque s Le Mans-spec machinery stretching back to the TS010 3.5-litre Group C car of 1991-1993 has been retained and reset.

Peugeot are set to mark their return to sportscar racing by entering the upcoming Hypercar category of the series which will become its new top class. Peugeot’s programme is set to commence from 2022. And forming part of their line-up it’s reported to be former Formula 1 driver Magnussen who left the series at the end of 2020 following his release from the Haas team. Magnussen is set to form part of the six-driver team from 2022, where he reportedly will be joined by fellow Danish racer Mikkel Jensen who made the switch from junior single-seaters to sportscar racing in 2017. He was part of the Eurointernational outfit which won the LMP3 class title in the 2019 European Le Mans Series.
