In our second annual power list, we recognized some of the top managers and agents who are guiding the careers of TikTok stars in 2021.
Many finance influencers already talk about fintech companies for free, which makes affiliate-marketing promotion a natural fit. I would go so far as to label myself an affiliate marketer before I would label myself a YouTuber at this point, personal-finance YouTuber Ryan Scribner said. Because that s how dominant this is for my business. Last year, and the year prior, affiliate revenue was about 50% of my earnings.
Scribner earns money when his viewers click a special trackable link below his videos and sign up for the specific stock brokerage he is promoting.
In February, his YouTube channel earned over $17,000 from affiliate marketing. (Insider verified these earnings with documentation provided by Scribner.)

Thanks to TikTok, CeraVe took the crown as the No. 1 favorite skincare brand in a new survey of 7,000 US teens.
Sydney wrote about a new Piper Sandler report that detailed how TikTok is reshaping teens beauty and skincare brand preferences.
CeraVe skyrocketed to the top in 2020 after being ranked at just No. 10 in 2019.
Why?
A new generation of skincare influencers emerged on TikTok in 2020, including creators like Hyram Yarbro who has 6.8 million TikTok followers.
CeraVe is one of Yarbro s frequently recommended products, and the brand has also sponsored Yarbro in the past.
Another TikTok favorite, The Ordinary – which didn t break into the top 10 favorite skincare brands for US teens in 2019 – now ranks at No. 4.

But what does it take to get hired?
I spoke with seven current YouTube employees and YouTube s director of global staffing, Olga Donnelly, to learn.

Donnelly said some YouTube applicants have caught the company s attention by simply including a link in their resume to a YouTube video they made.
Three YouTube employees said they had a YouTube channel prior to applying for a role at the company. And two had managed YouTube creators businesses prior to landing their roles.
