Police: Daughter s attack left Muncie woman with broken leg
Lindsey Rachelle Jones, 39, was arrested Thursday on a preliminary count of aggravated battery.

An officer said the victim s left eye was black and completely swollen shut and the side of her head by her left eye was already starting to swell and was significantly larger than the right side.
The woman s hair, face, chest, hands, pants and even some of her legs were covered in fresh and dried blood, an officer reported.

In the past week, Delaware County has reported 75 new cases of COVID-19 and six new deaths. This is the first time since August that the county’s number of new cases in a seven-day period has been under 100. The county’s positivity rate is at 6%; the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention suggest this number should be well under 5%. As of Feb. 17, IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital is treating 21 confirmed cases, nine of which are Delaware County residents.
To date, nearly 6,500 individuals have been fully vaccinated through IU Health Ball Memorial’s COVID19 vaccination clinic. This total does not include individuals who may have received the vaccine at other vaccination sites throughout Delaware County, including Open Door Health Services, Meridian Health Services, the Health Department, Walmart (South), Pay Less (McGalliard and Tillotson) and Meijer.

MUNCIE, Ind. Two people died after a late-night house fire in Muncie.
The Muncie Fire Department said they received the call of a house fire at 1621 West 16th Street around 11:30 p.m. Monday
Crews arrived to find fire coming from a bedroom window.
Firefighters transported a woman to IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital for treatment. Fire investigators said the woman told them she believes she caught a couch on fire while smoking.
The Delaware County Coroner’s Office said 74-year-old Virgil Murray and 70-year-old Brenda Stanley died in the fire.
