While seated in plastic chairs around a folding table, the members approved a $215,000 upgrade to “the lodge” at 777 Old Augusta Road.

IDA CEO weighs in on Savannah region s No. 1 rankings SAVANNAH – Site Selection magazine’s annual ranking named Savannah the No. 1  Top Metro by total industrial projects for metros with populations from 200,000 to one million (tied with Toledo, Ohio) and No. 1 Top Metro by projects per capita. The rankings were announced March 1. In announcing the rankings, Site Selection said, “Savannah, Georgia, vaults all the way into Site Selection’s top spot for Tier 2 Metros (tied with Toledo, Ohio) after finishing No. 12 in last year’s rankings. Further cementing its accomplishment, the port city on the Atlantic claimed the top spot for Tier 2s in our new Per Capita rankings.”

“The Port of Savannah is poised to be a key plastics export hub, and our new export operation delivers a strategic facility from which we can best serve our customers’ global needs,” Ball said. The Savannah Gateway Industrial Hub (SGIH) is being developed by OmniTRAX, a private transportation management company that partnered with the Effingham County Industrial Development Authority. The park is on 2,600 acres known as the Research Forest tract in unincorporated Effingham County, on McCall Road and behind the Lowe s in Rincon. OmniTRAX is the Broe Group’s transportation affiliate. “Savannah Gateway unlocks unparalleled multi-modal logistics connectivity through rail, truck and ship to markets throughout the Southeast, North America and the world,” OmniTRAX said in a news release announcing the official opening of the park.
