Select Massachusetts Stop & Shop Stores Begin Administering COVID-19 Vaccines to Phase 1 Eligible Customers Today
QUINCY, Mass., Jan. 26, 2021 Stop & Shop, in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Health, today announced that select Massachusetts pharmacy locations have been approved and have begun to administer the Moderna COVID-19 vaccination. Per Massachusetts’ distribution plan, current eligible individuals must live, work or attend school in Massachusetts, and include healthcare workers, as well as non-hospital-based healthcare personnel and residents of other long-term care settings covered under the rollout of Phase 1. Effective Monday, February 1, select Stop & Shop locations will begin accepting online vaccination appointments for those 75 and older.
The Johnson County Healthcare Center has a new piece of equipment, purchased with funding through the federal government’s CARES Act, or the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act.
Todd Wagner, Radiology Manager at the JCHC, gave a brief presentation to the hospital board at their recent meeting to show them the new portable x-ray machine.
Wagner said there is also less of a dose of radiation to the patients with the new machine.
Dr. Schueler said the new imaging machine has helped in the Emergency Room, and that he is happy with the quality of the images he has seen.
The United States Department of Health & Human Services Office of Inspector General released its semiannual report to Congress for the time period spanning from April 1, 2020, to September 30, 2020.
[1] The report contains numerous investigations into fraud, opioid use, children’s welfare, and various enforcement actions against white-collar crime.
According to the report, the government may be able to reclaim several billions in stolen or ill-gotten funds from the unethical people who used the pandemic to try to cheat others and profit. Of the more than $4 billion in expected recoveries, the report shows that more than $942 million could be returned based on program audit findings and $3.14 billion in expected investigative recoveries.

In a press release from SpartanNash they state they partnered with the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, plus other state agencies that they are located in, to offer free COVID vaccines at their pharmacies. They will be available at 88 stores across the country including Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Iowa.
Those that are interested in getting vaccinated will have to take a health screen survey and schedule an appointment. This way safety is ensured for both patients and pharmacists and so the second dose can be administered in a timely manner.
