The U.S. Embassy to Barbados, the Eastern Caribbean, and the Organization of the Eastern Caribbean States is pleased to announce the Fulbright Foreign Student Scholarship recipients for this academic year. Grenadian Larissa Mark has travelled to Omaha, Nebraska to begin graduate-level studies in Epidemiology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, funded by the U.S. Government.
Prior to accepting the Fulbright Foreign Student Scholarship award, Ms. Mark was employed by Sandals Grenada Beach Resort and Spa as an Environment, Health and Safety Manager. In 2018, Mark completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the St. George’s University and in 2013, she completed a Master’s in Public H

I have seen a lot of contestation in the press and on social media over the last week or so regarding the applicability of sentencing guidelines to certain categories of offenses.
I wanted to bring some clarity on the applicability of these relatively guidelines in my capacity as a UWI Lecturer in Law, who happened to serve on the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court Sentencing Advisory Committee, which drafted said guidelines.
First, it is to be noted that sentencing guidelines are documents which set out a methodology for judges and magistrates to decide upon a particular sentence, having regard to the relevant legislation, and the aggravating and mitigating circumstances relevant to the particular case.

The U.S. Embassy to Barbados, the Eastern Caribbean, and the Organization of the Eastern Caribbean States is pleased to announce that two Vincentians, Kayanna Burke and Benarva Browne, have been selected for the 2020-2021 Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program.
The Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program is a Fulbright professional exchange program which brings accomplished young and mid-career professionals [LLM(1][LLM(2]to the United States for an academic year of non-degree graduate-level study, leadership development, and substantive professional collaboration with U.S. counterparts. Humphrey Fellows are nominated based on potential for leadership and their demonstrated commitment to public service.
